Dr. Valerie J. Samuel is a licensed clinical psychologist. Dr. Samuel holds a Ph.D. in Child Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University. She has provided clinical services in a variety of settings including private practice, schools, child guidance clinics, and inpatient hospitals. In addition, she was a clinical research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. There she furthered her knowledge and experience in childhood psychiatric disorders. Dr. Samuel has presented on the topics of mental health in schools, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, and gender differences in mental health. Dr. Samuel has provided training, supervision, consultation and teaching services to interns, physicians, and mental health trainees as well as school staff.
She worked for over 14 years at the Diagnostic Center, Southern California. In her role as clinical psychologist she provided direct assessment, consultation on cases for Local Educational Agencies and interfaced with other mental health professionals. She can provide expert consultation to your district or SELPA regarding mental health with students in an AB 114 era.
